I had the pleasure of speaking with Campbell Company of Canada president Philip Donne last week at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre about innovation and how his company, which produces millions of cans of soup, is adapting to the close-to-home local food movement. His comments surprised me: “As a packaged food company, we say buy fresh whenever you can,” he said. But when you can’t, for convenience or seasonality, he hopes you’ll choose Campbell’s.
That interview is the basis for my Urban Cowboy column in today’s Guelph Mercury. Below is one of artist Andy Warhol‘s famous Campbell Soup cans.
