Students in my agricultural communications course and in turf management — the latter of which I co-teach with Anne Douglas and Andrew Douglas — have been engaged in citizen journalism exercises throughout the fall semester as part of their course requirements. Classes ended yesterday and the students’ blogs will be concluding shortly for the semester. To view them, scroll down on the blogroll on this site, to “Students – agricultural communications” and “Students – turf management.”
Congratulations to the students for their commitment to this exercise, and for taking on some weighty topics – climate change, energy reduction, environmental sustainability, aesthetics versus functionality, supply management and conventional production versus organic production, among them.
Below is a photo from student Cindy Schickedanz’s “AgriNewz” blog, taken at this year’s Canadian Western Agribition, and Daren Bukator’s logo from the extremely successful turfgrass symposium planned and coordinated by the first-year turfgrass management students as part of their communications course.
