In the fall semester, I was fortunate to have the support of the University of Guelph's President's Office, the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, the Office of Research and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair to offer my agricultural communications students two broadcast video opportunities, under the technical supervision of Michael Chapman and Chris Szabo of Timeline Communications.
First, the students were videotaped in class delivering their qualifying speeches for the Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture competition, from which six students were chosen by judges to compete at competition, held annually at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
Then, students worked in teams at the Royal to interview attendees and create six "streeter" (spontaneous interview) videos, around themes such as healthy eating and rural-urban relations.
Now, you can view all the videos at the YouTube site Michael and Chris set up for these projects and others, at www.youtube.com/agricomm.
Thanks to everyone for their participation.
